5 Bean Chocolate Chilli packed with Protein and Plant foods 





A hearty, plant-based dish packed with protein, flavour, and warmth — perfect for cosy nights or festive feasts! ✨

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed

  • 1 celery stick, finely chopped

  • 2 red chillies, deseeded & finely chopped

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 pinch ground cloves

  • 1 tsp Fresh Herb Coriander, Lime & Garlic sea salt

  • ½ tsp Fresh Herb Chilli Sea Salt 

  • 1 red and 1 yellow pepper, chopped into chunks

  • 2 cans mixed beans, drained & rinsed

  • 1 can kidney beans, drained & rinsed

  • 1 can black beans, drained & rinsed

  • 1 can chopped tomatoes

  • Juice of 1 lime 🍈

  • 1 tbsp tamari soy sauce

  • Fresh coriander, chopped, to serve

  • 20 g (¾ oz) dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids)

  • Black pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan. Sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft.

  2. Add chillies, oregano, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, Fresh Herb coriander, lime & garlic and Fresh Herb Chilli Sea Salt. Stir for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. Add peppers, beans, tomatoes, lime juice, and tamari. Simmer gently for 20–25 minutes.

  4. Stir in the dark chocolate and season with black pepper.

  5. Serve topped with fresh coriander — and maybe a dollop of guacamole or grated vegan cheese. 🌿
